Business Principles

In business, if you don’t know the basics, you could well find out the hard way. This course will give you the edge in a very competitive environment.

Why are we here? Profit of course!

SB1 The meaning of life, in a commercial sense

  • Does ‘survival of the fittest’ say it all?
  • Do good guys ever come first?
  • Does growing bigger mean growing weaker?
  • Should we stick to what we are good at?
  • Is there too much change, for the sake of it?
  • Why do so many new businesses fail?
  • Are people really becoming obsolete?
  • What should our business philosophy be?

SB2 Be different, or better, or both

  • Do gimmicks work?
  • How important is a strong identity?
  • Should a business reinvent itself from time to time?
  • How can we ‘see ourselves as others see us’?
  • What can we learn from our competitors?
  • How can we make best use of feedback?
  • What type of market research offers the best value?

SB3 What to do when the going gets tough

  • Are all difficulties avoidable?
  • How can we recognise the warning signs?
  • How can we avoid over-reaction?
  • When should I communicate bad news?
  • Is it better to act quickly or ride the storm?
  • Is it a useful time to reassess?
  • How can we come through it even stronger?

We run interactive and fun training sessions to cover the multitude of skills needed for staff to be effective in a busy working environment:  Each ‘pack’ contains three modules, but you can swap these to suit your needs.
For complete flexibility, either choose a complete pack, or design your own half-day sessions.
